What is happening in Idaho Falls????? There is a major problem going on if the flu is that strong....I'll bet you the local news/radio stations are full of random health advisories... that's just crazy.
Things in Dominica are popping. Here's a quick rundown:
1. Brother Sanford did a fast with us this week to ask if he should take the next step to get baptized or not.
2. We taught Delicon and his family twice this week. I think I already told you about them, but they are a Haitian family that just recently moved here. they are awesome, they all came to English class and to church as well!
3. We also met a new friend that we are teaching now. His name is Richardson. He has come to church the last two weeks, but we just met him on Sunday and started to teach him. he is the friend of a member and he seems super interested in the Gospel.
4. Our Creole abilities are coming along pretty well. we have had to teach quite a bit in Creole recently, so we are being forced to get better.
5. We went on a hike today to a boiling lake and it was SUPPPPEERRR cool! It was also super long - like 6 hours round trip! We left early this morning and started out. For the first mile it was all super jungle-y with a gradual incline then a drop down into a river valley. After crossing the river we had to climb up and up and up. They have made some steps out of the dirt and some logs, but boy was it hard. After forever of hiking straight up a mountain, we got to the mountain peak, and it looked exactly like the mountain in Moana where they jump down into the realm of whatever... just a flat top, in a circle, with a small ledge all around. It was super cool. It was at that mountain peak that we first saw the lake. Well, not the lake itself, but the steam rising up in the distance probably two peaks over.
So we kept going, and had to go straight down the other side of the mountain that we had just come up, and this took us into what is known as the 'valley of desolation'. It is a valley full of natural hot sulfur springs, and it makes it have some super dope colors but the sulfur and the hot water make it hard for any plants to grow there.
So we worked our way across the valley and up the other side and there on the other side of the ridge was this ginormous cauldron of boiling water! It is a lake about 200-ish feet across and it has just these giant rolling-boil bubbles coming up from its center and the whole thing is steaming and blowing all over. It was actually hard to get a good pic of the boiling part because of all of the steam. So that was super cool. I'll send some pics.
