Wherein Maelynn COMES HOME!

June 27-28, 2018

Maelynn flew home around 9 pm on the 27th of June, 2018 to the Idaho Falls Airport. She was released by her stake President, President Ames at 6:30 am on the 28th of June, 2018.

Wherein Landen Hikes to a Cave

June 25, 2018

    So this week was super good.  We had a very great week working with members, helping them to get their missionary work on!  Transfers came and I guess that means Maelynn is going home.  Rip, I'm a lone lonely loner of all of the family on both the Groberg and Bailey side to be out in the mission field now :( 
   (At least until Craig and Gayle or Joe head out).  Sad.  But give Maelynn a hug for me, fam!  Also, here are some pics!

Wherein Maelynn Tells Us What She Has Learned Over the Last 18 Months!

Hey fam, 

     Glad to hear that the reunion went well. Landen, we've been having some weeks like that too, but ni modo. Solo hay que seguir trabajando.

a family from India that is living here in Mexico. They don't speak hardly any Spanish, but she sort of knows English. She doesn't understand anything at church, but she likes coming!

    So basically just want to tell y'all that I love you and I'm pumped to give you all hugs (sorry Landen, you'll just have to wait a little longer) ... and I just can't believe how fast the time has gone by.

    There were definitely days in the mission that felt like eternities, and weeks that seemed even longer.  And full changes that passed without blinking, and 18 months that flew by without taking a breath. And I wouldn't change one bit of it for anything!

     Lately people have been asking what I have learned from my time in the mission, and honestly there's just so many things that I couldn't even make a list. I have learned how to eat my food without utensils as long as there's tortillas. I have learned that I can walk all day and not even get that tired. I have learned the things I want in my future spouse and family and things to definitely avoid. I have learned how to love someone that I don't even know, and how to see things in the bigger picture of God's great plan and not worry about the little things. Oh y Español tambien. I have learned that I love the people of Mexico and I love being on the Lord's errand. 

  

     And the great thing is that just because my mission is coming to an end, doesn't mean that all of this has to go away. Building the Kingdom of God on the earth is something that we all can and should be part of all the time, because that is why we're down here. I hope that I can keep learning and progressing and helping others on their path back to the Savior forever!

Wherein Landen Contemplates Satan's Ways!

Amen. Thank you for the letter, dad. 

       This week was very great here in San Sebastian, California.  What did I just say?  This isn't California, but I'm just gonna leave it - because it describes my mission better that way.  But yes, We have had a very fantastic-unsuccessful-wonderful-with-no-numbers-whatsoever week! 

     That's all over the place, I know, but basically all of our investigators decided they don't actually want to investigate the Church anymore, or all of the people that we invited to be baptized this week told us that they didn't want to.  And that is basically a good description of the work going on in this area. Nobody that we have found yet wants to get baptized, even after understanding the importance of the restauracion.  Also everyone that says they are going to come to church are lying.  

     But, let me tell you how me and my companion are going to turn that all around: We are going to make a plan in which we steal everybody's agency and make them come to church and be baptized.  After which we will be cast out of heaven to a state of endless misery and wo - because stealing agency is Satan's Idea. JK, we are not going to do that.  But we are going to "work work work"(S.W.K.) to find the people who God has prepared to receive the restored Gospel and we are going to do everything in our authority and power to help them to come to church and progress towards baptism. Without forcing them to do anything, because forcing is satanic and if you force they don't convert. But yes - helping, encouraging and edifying all along their journey on the gospel path. 

      This email seems a little preachy, but that's basically just how I feel right now - so now you know. I hope you enjoyed because I know its true. 

     In other news my companion is awesome. We had a super cool Zone conference this week. I got a package from home and I found out for the umpteenth time that my family and ward are awesome! And well, I love you all!
