Wherein Lane is Feeling a Bit Unmotivated

 February 24, 2025

Hey guys!! Hope that all is going well back home!

This week has been alright! It has legit been harder adjusting to this companion than I thought! Not gonna go into details, but I'm trying my hardest.
Also got sick for a day this week!! It was my fault because I was kinda dumb and ended up paying for it.

But not much else happened! We didn't really find any good new people that are progressing but did talk to a bunch of members and innactives, and we're working with them.

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
Um, I just want to do a spiritual section mostly for the other missionaries. Most it's just that you remember you purpose. Which is to invite people to come unto Christ!! Not to have a certain number of baptisms, new people, lessons with members! Those are great, but when we lose focus on what we are actually here to do, we fail to look for ways to truly share the love of Christ! Hopefully the same is try for those not serving missions! We should do thongs because we love people, not for any other "fake" or "hidden" purpose. Jesus knows the intent of our hearts, and I hope that we do things always out of love.

Sorry for the lack of effort in this email, I just don't really feel like it this week!!

Until next time

Wherein Lane Gets His 8th Companion!

February 17, 2025

Yeappp... we had transfers this week!! Im staying here in Talavera, which is awesome because I love this area so much!! My old comp, Elder Franco left for Puno (the south cold part of the mission) which kinda sucks, and I am now comps with Elder Cubillas from Peru!

He is now my 8th comp, counting MTC, and I have officially had 7 different district leaders too!! Hehe, we'll see how next transfer works out!!

We had Elder Tamnichi here until Thursday!! My comp left Wednesday at like 6 (we got transfer news Tuesday at 9:30) so we had like 12 hours to pack and say goodbye to everyone!! Not much work was done that day πŸ˜¬. Then we woke up at 3am to pick up pur new comps, and it was pouring rain, and I was in shorts and a t-shirt cuz im kinda πŸ«

But besides transfers, this week was super good!! We found some good new people this week, but not really any that are progressing super fast, but that's OK, cuz we'll keep working with everyone!! Trying to get all of our converts re-activated!! Also all of the members as well!! The district presidency gave the goal to the branch members to have 90-120 asistencias (people attending) if they want their own chapel. (They already have the land for it)
So now the members I hope are gonna start working harder!! Woooo.

But yeah, not super much else happened this week, just getting settled with my new companion.

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
This week was learning to be patient!! There are a few people I've recently been having to spend time with, that I don't really get along perfectly with, but when I just try and relax and not let everything get to me, things go a lot smoother!! I think that's important for life. When things happen that really don't matter that much, we shouldn't let them matter to us! Just calm down, relax, and let things happen how they are gonna happen!! Be open to change!
This is definitely a lot easier said than done, and I find myself holding grudges, or being annoyed for no good reason, and it's definitely a process that we need to include our savior in. He's there to help us, and understands perfectly the feelings of our hearts!! He helps us to have compassion, love, and patience.

Good week this week! Time is flying in Peru... but also not sometimes!! But we're one more transfer done!!

Until next Monday Fellas

Wherein Lane Understands the Value of Slow and Steady Work

February 10, 2025

PARTY BABY!!!

Wooo hooo!!! Just kidding... There were actually no parties this week! Sorry if I just absolutely bamboozeled you with that title. Just my wishful thinking. Ma bad

Buuuut... this was still a great week!! We're teaching some dope people, all of which are kinda progressing slowly, but slowly is better that not, and with every lesson they are understanding more and more, and it's cool to see each friend individually growing!!

We did go to Chincheros finally this week!! First some background... our area is massive (like 8ish hours lengthwise) and we mainly focus our work in the city of Talavera, because that's where the most members are and where the church is. But there's also a city about 1.5ish hours away called Chincheros, where there are a few members as well. They are trying to start a family branch there eventually, but they need more priesthood than they have, and for that, us missionaries actually have to be there to teach them. So this week we went there with a family, and it was awesome!! We got a cool bus ride with amazing views, and got to teach a few people!! Safe to say we'll be headed back in the future!

Umm besides going there, this week was pretty bland. I dont think we have too much planned for this Pday.
Also transfers were supposed to be on Saturday, but they got pushed back, so next week I'll let you guys know where I am.

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
I think my main thought, especially for other missionaries, is that sometimes you don't have 50 families lined up at the font waiting to be baptized, but rather you have maybe just 1 friend, who is slowly learning but truly understanding the gospel and love of Jesus Christ, and I think that those types of conversions are even better! We often push our teachings to try and "reach goals" which can be great don't get me wrong, but this week we had a couple lessons where instead of teaching an entire lesson, we teach just one or two principles, but really have a good discussion with our friends and help them understand everything way better!
Just sometimes, slow and steady is better i believe.
If we focus on actually bringing these souls unto Christ, how great will be our joy!!

Lista de oraciΓ³n:
- Brayan (that he can find some time for Jesus)
- Familia QuiΓ±ones [Denilson, Rosa, Sayuri] (that they can continue learning and growing)
- Anna Teresa (that she can continue praying daily)
- Juan (he can make it to church with his family)

Ok see ya... ✌️
