Wherein Lane Sends His Last Email of the Year

"My Last Email"

Wooahh hooo hoo!!! Bet I got you with the title!!

But this is my last email of the year, so expect more to come in 2025!

Speaking of which everyone send me an email and tell me what was your favorite part of this year?? What was your favorite thing you did, and what are you looking forward to for next year!!

Basically I sent an email just a few days ago for Christmas so not too much happened!! Which is a lie of course, because we had the baptism of our friend Luis!! Which was super cool! Also we gave a blessing to a friend and it was awesome! And then we also got transfer news!!

Next time I send an email it will be from Talavera!! I get to go to Apurímac (a different state basically) and it's like at minimum a 9 hour car ride through very winding roads and mountains and there's lakes and stuff so suposedly it's very pretty ride, but very crazy and bumpy for 9 hours!!

I don't know much about it, and neither do any of my comps so it's gonna be all new to me!!
Speaking of comps, Elder Fort is staying here in Calca. Elder Grillo is heading to Puno!

Anyways that about all that happened

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
Basically we've been working with Luis since before I got here, and he finally made the wo derufl decision to get baptised!! The point is we have to have faith and continue doing everything we can even when it seems like progress isn't being made! I know there are peopke that have been waiting for a lot longer than Luis, and all they need is for people to keep trying and supporting and loving them!!

#moreholinessgiveme

Great ending to the year!! The people here in Perú and Calca specifically are the best!!

Until next year (for real this time)

Wherein Lane Has His First Mission Christmas!

 December 25, 2024

Wow... I dont know where to start! I know that you're prolly reading this wondering how my Christmas went, or you aren't wondering at all and just read these for fun, or you're not even reading this in which case this sentencie doesn't even make sense.

Anyways, I'll start off, this week was absolutely amazing!!! Easily the best Christmas I've had on the misión so far!
But honestly, I'd say that Christmas Eve was even better than actual Christmas (hence the title (also just merry Christmas was a basic title and I don't believe in basic things)

I won't explain everything cuz its a little long and honestly probably boring to read, but we did a lot of service, we're able to help kids have a great Christmas who maybe wouldn't have otherwise, been there for like 5 hours and my arms got burned, dance partied, ate massive lunch, dance partied, went immediately to another meal after walking about 3 miles, partied (not dance just normal), went to give more gifts to a family who was very grateful, dance partied, ate more food (chocolate and panetón), dace partied, came back home, went to a members house, ate another massive meal (hamburgers), partied (singing party this time), watched fireworks!!, opened gifts, played video games, fell asleep, companions woke me up and we went home, ate more panetón, went to bed!

I know I said I would explain everything but that's basically everything!!
Then the next day was Christmas and for some reason we still went to the gym at 4:51!! (I got less than 2 hours of sleep) and then we ate some chocolate and panetón, then went and played paintball, then played some monopoly, then played fútbol, then slept, then played volleyball, and then went to bed!! Dinner and lunch were in the somewhere, but all in all it was a very chill day and I loved it!!

Besides Christmas, and definitely more importantly, we baptized out friend Cristel this week!! It was so awesome, and it's going to be such a big blessing to her and to her family!!! I was so amazing!!
This was my third baptism and they are awesome every time!! Also got to do my first baptism in Spanish, which was a little easier than Quechua, but I still had a hard time with her name cuz they all have like 50 names here!! So she basically just whispered me her name as I said it cuz she realized I was struggling!! She's the best!!

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
Lo importante this time is that when we focus of only serving and helping others we are serving God!! And you completely forget about yourself and it is just the most fun!!
This Christmas was prolly one of if not the best I've had, because it was surreal to just be here in Perú doing the Lord's work and serving others and helping them have a special day! And mientras doing so I had myself an even more special day too!
There is no better feeling than helping someone else, and feeling how happy they are and the appreciation they have for you!
It's enough to make a grown man cry! (not this man)

#joytotheworld

Wow really amazing week!! The best in my mission, and up there in all time best weeks of my life!
Hopefully, more baptisms to come, please pray muy duro for our friends Luis, and Camila!!!
Love you guys! Send me an email and tell me how your Christmas went!!!

Until next year

Wherein Lane Gives a Talk on How Jesus Never Forgets Us!

Hey fam!!! And friends!!! (And other people, who probably fall under friends if they are on this list)

Hope you all had a W week! It was pretty good here in Calca!!! Not anything super special happened! We had zone conference which wad awesome! And afterwards president took us all to Pisac! Everyone was so excited, except for our companionship, because that's literally in our area! But it was cool none the less and we went to see the ruins!! (Pics in the Google fotos)

Ummhonestly a super slow week! We found 0 new people! (Like Montana all over again!!!) But we had a good comp council and this next week is gonna be super amazing!!

Super excited for Christmas!! We have a friend (Cristel, 9) who is getting baptized on the 22nd! What a special baptism cuz its so close to Christmas!!!

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
President called and said he needed 2 of us to give talks cuz the freaking members didn't want to or something, so once again I had less than 18 hours of warning! But I pulled one together and talked about how sometimes it feels like Jesus has forgotten us when we have really difficult trials! But in reality that is when He is closest and we just need to look (pray) a little harder!
If you're going through something hard right now just know you're not alone, no matter how alone you feel! He's always there for you and will help us as soon as we reach out!
