Wherein Lane Gets a New Temporary Assignment!

August 21, 2024
Well another Pday here, sorry i didnt finish the email on time... also it's my last one at the MTC!!! Super exciting, and I'm so glad it's done!!! I can't wait to shower in a personal shower again!! This week has been pretty good, and on friday I got an email saying that I am getting reassigned because the Peruvian government dont want me there yet 😂. No worries, its all good. I got called to Billings Montana for my reassignment. I dont knkw too many details, it says I'll be in whatever language the president decides, and ill,be leaving probably next tuesday or wednesday, so not too much longer. I don't think I'll be there longer than probably a transfer, but I'm excited to go. I dont know when my pdays are going to be there, so it could be a little bit before I send another email, but I'll keep you all posted. Also I don't remember if I said this last week, but we have a new teacher because our other one kinda dipped. I was pretty sick for a day or two this week, and it sucked because I couldn't breath, and I kept coughing during stuff, and in the temple. But I just drank plenty of milk and slept a lot and now we're fine. Food still sucks but milk consumption is at an all time high! So that's great! I got a package from momma with my raincoat and some candy so that was awesome! Now I don't gotta worry about the weather as much! I also got a package from the Bro... Sethy!! He sent a package with bunch of random stuff, im pretty sure he was just cleaning our his pantry, cuz I don't even know what some of the stuff was, but there was some Nutella, candy, popcorn, and most importantly taco bell hot sauce, and 2 ginger beers!! Bro is seriously a life saver, I don't think I could have made it through the rest of MTC without it!!!!! Everything else is basically the same here, we have 7 hours of Spanish class per day, I am learning a lot which is great and I can't 🌱🌊

Spiritual section: I was pretty bummed not gonna lie when I got a reassignment to go to Montana, I was confused because I was like Perú is my calling. But I've learned a lot of things this week that have comforted me and helped me to be ok with what is happening. First thing, is that I wasn't called to Perú, I was assigned there, I was called as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ! And that means that I get to share His message and gospel to everyone everywhere, including Montana! Secondly, I have read like 10 scriptures about trusting in the Lord, His timing, and not myself. I need to have a little faith, because that is what a mission is all about! Third, is not to worry about all of the things that are out of my control or non-important, because dwelling on them isn't going to help anything, and it means I'm not 100% focused on my missionary purpose. I just need to focus on what I can, which right now is learning Spanish, and how to share the Gospel. Yea ok ok... i think that about sums up the week :) Anyways, make sure to reach out!!! I love getting updates from you guys, and thanks for the prayers, all the missionaries here and in the field need them! Anyways goodbye buds!!!

Wherein Lane Plays a Lot of Volleyball.

Well yet another week done, only got 2 left before I leave to Perú and I am so excited!! The MTC is nice and all but I just want to get to Peru and get crackin!!

Highlight of my week is probably just playing more volleyball... we play a bunch this week, and I forget how much I low-key suck at it haha! But it's still all chill and we play for a few hours per day even though we aren't supposed to, but idk what they play in Perú, maybe soccer or something like that so we'll see.

The food is still not all that, but I've been eating so much of it because I'm like always hungry. I still have gained like no weight, so the people that say you gain weight at the MTC are lying. Also I've drank a lot of milk here, but they only have 2% which is nasty, might as well just drink water at that point honestly. Someone tell them to get whole milk.

We had to sing in the choir again cuz our branch president asked us to and so that was fine... honestly kinda sounded cool tho.

Oh and on Tuesday when we sang it was a devotional from Elder Bednar about the Book of Mormon which was good.

Today we went to the temple in the morning and did sealings for kids, and so now after Landen's wedding I've seen I think every ordinance at the temple, so that's dope.

Also it's weird to be here for 6 weeks, because I've already known like 3 groups of friends that have come and left since I've been here. But I'm almost done now and I'll be out of here.

Ok that's a pretty decent run down of the week.

Oh oh and the Spanish is coming decently but I know it's gonna be rough once I get in Perú so wish me luck

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
So just a little something from this week is that we were told to look for blessings in our life, and it's like that one quote I think that goes something like where we can think that everything is a miracle or nothing is a miracle. So it's kinda fun to look at things in my life as blessings instead of like coincidences or anything. I've been able to find a lot of them.

Yea anyways that was kinda all over the place but I hope you get the gist.

Anyways, that is everything I can think of, so like I'll write another one next week! Make sure to reach out anytime buddies!!!!

Wherein Lane is Halfway Done with MTC

 August 7th, 2024

Hey everyone... I'm sorry that I totally forgot to write this email earlier, but hopefully I can still get it done by the end of Pday (which ended at 6 so don't tell branch pres.) But basically this week was not too bad! We have had a lot of spanish classes and it's going pretty good, I think I've got a pretty basic grasp on things!

I can say prayers, have some decent conversations, and bear my testimony.
Which when I think about it is basically all I'm going to be doing for the next 2 years, sk from here on out if just getting more proficient!!
The food honestly still super sucky, I drink like minimum 4 pineapple fantas every day, and it's gotta be not healthy for me. They will randomly have like a good meal every once in a while, and I'll just eat like 5 meals worth, and then not eat for a while, and that's probably also not healthy! So basically I'm just not healthy! Also I haven't been working out that much, except just playing volleyball which I do for like 1-2 hours a day, played like 3ish today ðŸ˜…... so basically I'm hoping I'll start being healthier once I go to Peru!
Things are going good with all the people, I love the branch presidency. President Bangeter will always dap you up and pull you into a hug, which is chill, and Brother Silva is super awesome, and he was a voice actor and radio host and what not in Brazil, and I can tell why, I could seriously listen to him tell stories for hours.
Also my district is dope, and we're all good buds now! Sometimes a little too much and we get in trouble in class for being rowdy!! Just like high school!! Anyways yea they're all dope, and my comp is good too!! He's super chill and we both went and got haircuts today, first one of the Mish, and it doesn't look too bad, I just went as short as I could. Anyways, yes the MTC is not that bad, but I want to leave and just start my mission right now! I have exactly 3 weeks until I'll be on a plane to Peru which is exciting!!! But yeah I'll do a little spiritual stuff for yall now

🌱🌊 Spiritual section:
One thing I really like and that I shared my testimony on this fast Sunday was preordination! I love the idea of preordination and how it kinda all works in our church, it's just awesome!! One of my favorite scriptures that I read way back in home MTC is in D&C 138:56 - go check it out! Also there is this youth song called "a great work" and it also talks about that a little bit, and I've read like 4 other scriptures that also talk about our day, and various scriptures and conference talks that say how we were reserved for this day and for this work!!!!!

Anyways, that is everything I can think of, so like I'll talk next week! Feel free to reach out anytime!!!!
