"Our President gave everyone permission to write our families so that you aren't freaking out. So there was an earthquake last night at like midnight. To be totally honest, we kind of just pass out hard every night, and yeah we didn't feel a thing. The only reason we knew about it was because members called to check on us. Supposedly the strongest earthquake Mexico has experienced in over a hundred years...and I slept through it! How sad. But apparently everyone else here felt it and they were pretty freaked out. That's all anyone's been talking about today, but all is well :) Bummer that I slept through it though for reals."

"Not much damage here from the earthquake, but LOTS in other areas like Chiapas and Oaxaca. A family member of a member in our ward was just here visiting like 2 weeks ago from Oaxaca. Well this weekend she got into contact with our bishop and asked him for help. Basically everything was destroyed down there. The church down there is full of people and overflowing - to the point that people are just sleeping outside. Well after the second quake (an aftershock I think) she said it started to pour. So there were hungry people with NOTHING, sleeping outside in the rain.
This sister asked our bishop to get together with some brethren from the ward and use their priesthood to calm the storm.
I don't really know how they did it, but hours later she responded that the rain had stopped.
All day yesterday and today our stake has been gathering clothes and food and things as simple as toilet paper to send down to them. We went to the church today to help them collect things, and it's incredible how people pull together to help people that they don't even know!
A sister here in my ward was talking to me yesterday and she made the comment that she felt like we were living like queens here compared to the people in Oaxaca.
....And then thinking about the difference of living here and living in the States.... honestly guys, just realize how much we have! Don't let a single day pass by without being grateful that you have a water-proof house, more than just hard tortillas to eat, and toilets that flush!
So glad to hear that Landen survived! We've been praying for you and the people in Puerto Rico. The world is getting crazier and crazier!

I want to introduce you to 2 of our investigators.
Cecilio. We encountered him on the bus one day, about a month ago. And after the first time we visited him, he came to church! And he hasn't missed a Sunday since! He even went with the Elders Quorum to a service project last week! He should be getting baptized in the coming weeks (he's close to getting rid of the alcohol)!!
Julio. He has been in enseñanza (lessons) the whole time I've been in this area. And he's had more baptism dates than I can count. Last Sunday he told us that he wanted to wait until he knew more about the Book or Mormon, so we told him to keep reading the Book of Mormon and to pick a date and let us know. But he never let us know. Then this Sunday he didn't come, so we called him to see what happened. He told us that he had an answer for us: he's gonna get baptized! He just feel embarrassed to walk up alone in front of everyone to go get the Holy Ghost. Minor problem. Super Pumped - lots of time working with this young man!
