Wherein Sadie Sadly Witnesses True Crazy Behavior with Police Presence Required.

 February 28, 2023

Hey guys! This week was good. Honestly went slow but now i'm here at another pday which means time is still moving.

All week I was looking forward to the intercambios we had on Saturday. I was with another American who arrived at the same time as me. It was a really cool day and turns out I actually can speak Spanish lol. Taught lots of lessons, found new people to teach, saw miracles, and had a fun time. I think we both left with more confidence in ourselves as missionaries and our ability to speak spanish and stronger testimonies of the gift of tongues so...success. I drank a monster that day and afterwards had so much energy and motivation to talk to everybody so ya i guess the secret to missionary work is the Spirit and maybe a monster lol.

Yesterday at church was...disappointing. and crazy. Luciano and Ana did not come again. I really thought they were sincere when they said they'd come this time. But Franco and Lucmila came!! In relief society a member that has had many problemas, really just let it out and there was sooooo much tensión in the room. Then that same lady had a meeting with the branch president after and....basically satan was inside her and Ive never heard such terrible and crazy screaming and yelling and it ended with the police and they arent allowed to enter any church in the stake now so thats wild. I hope I never have to experience/see that again. She was like possessed or something it seemed like cuz normally she is nice. Anger is powerful when you let it creep in. If you have anger in your heart lets work on getting it out before it gets bad. After the chaoticness of church yesterday I was feeling pretty frustrated and down about being here. I miss church back at home. It's just really really different here, but I was reminded of the real importance of Sunday and that is the sacrament and yesterday I had the opportunity to take the sacrament and renew my baptismal covenants with the Lord and that's what really mattered. And there are some great members here so its ok!

But miracle: we were just about to drop teaching our friend Franco because we haven't been able to contact him for a little while and he wasn't coming to church but on Friday night late we received a voice message from him out of the blue and he just said hola my mom gave me permission to be baptized so ok I can get baptized this sunday...well there's things to do first and to be more prepared but his desire and excitement to be baptized is so great. He went around at church yesterday telling everyone his baptism is next week. Poor guy, we had to tell him it's actually gonna be the 12th, but ya he is super excited and we are so happy he is back!

Please pray for Ana and Luciano to come to church and for Franco and Lucmila to continue in their efforts and desires!

Yesterday my favorite and most comfortable pair of shoes broke and it actually made me really upset and i got stressed and overwhelmed about what i was going to do about it. I also struggle throughout the week all the time to stay focused and keep my mind here and happy and peaceful about being here instead of just thinking of the day i am going home. Its like i can see that this is what i dreamed of forever and this is what i am gonna miss for the rest of my life and i only have the next 15 months to do this and its actually the most amazing thing ever and i am so privileged to get to be part of this great work, so then why do i struggle so bad sometimes to stop thinking about the things i am missing at home and the day i get to go home? more than anything i have just been frustrated that its always a battle emotionally/mentally because i will be absolutely in love with what i am doing and so happy and then suddenly im down again. Always worth it to battle through tho because the joy that i feel in the good moments is so amazing!! I really am happy to be a missionary and having these experiences right now. Its pretty dang cool! Learning to be happy in the moment and not just always looking forward to the next thing. Oh and today I found a man in san carlos a nearby town to fix my shoes! Everything always works out so don't stress!

Also ive decided my mission is the weirdest mix of things. Like its definitely not a mission like in the states with cars and Walmart, but its also not full blown throw me into a shack in the middle of nowhere. I have friends and family right now on missions in living conditions that are just crazy! And part of me is like go big or go home, put me in crazy conditions and give me those wild experiences or give me a car and Costco haha but I got a nice in between here. Thinking of the places my friends are at makes me count my blessings for running water and our AC unit and thinking of my other friends makes me jealous of their bikes and cars and mattresses that fit on their bedframes lol. But ive been really working on focusing on gratitude and not comparing too much and also believing that that my mission call is right for me!! A nice tranquilo town near the beach but not on the beach with lots of open field and pretty sunsets but also some city not way out in the middle of nowhere is definitely perfect for me. But also im here for the people more than anything and it doesnt have to be perfect for me cuz its not about me. God is mindful though and has out best interest at heart.

My momma said to just end it and send it haha you can all thank her personally

Always happy when im lost in the work and serving others so im gonna keep working!! But thinking of and praying for all of you! You have all blessed my life so much and helped me be me!

Love you all so much! Have a good week!
